ZNE Indigo Studio & Office
We designed our offices to be one of the first ZNE office buildings to be certified by the International Living Future Institute, the 13th building of any type to rise to this challenge. We adapted what was formerly a Dairy Queen restaurant in downtown Davis. We made use of the distinctive, curving glue-laminated roof beams, clad the building in ultra-insulating straw bale walls and added sources of natural light and ventilation. A new wing of the building features corrugated metal siding that references the light-industrial past of this part of downtown, which is adjacent to the railroad tracks and an old lumber yard.
